Picture / Picture Placeholder

In Bloom, picture and image are used interchangeably. Both refer, generically, to a picture/photograph, line art or similar. Pictures (images) can be in various formats.

They decorate or distinguish a Front Cover page or function as illustrations.

You can paste an image you previously copied to your computer's clipboard. However, typically, you use the Image Toolbox to:

choose the source of the image
choose the image
crop the image (use a portion of it)
open the Copyright and License dialog box so you can specify image metadata. Bloom embeds this information in the image file itself.
Paste image credit information with Contributions.

Tip

For BloomPUBs and ePUBs, you can set the maximize size of the images.
For *.pdf output, like Big Books, the maximum size of 3840 in either direction.

Picture Placeholder

This is a picture placeholder. It can appear in various sizes on pages that can have pictures.

Hold your mouse pointer over a placeholder or existing picture to display these buttons (not visible if the Overlay Tool is open in the tool box):

Picture Information

Hold your mouse pointer over an image in Bloom to see a pop-up box. This box contains the information about that picture.
Use the Image Description Tool to add descriptions of images.
Use the Overlay Tool to add bubbles, text boxes or captions to images.
